Liposuction / Lipoaspiration

Targeted removal of fat deposits resistant to diet and exercise, to sculpt the figure lastingly.

What is it?

Liposuction, or lipoaspiration, permanently removes localised fat deposits that resist dieting and physical activity: abdomen, hips ("love handles"), saddlebags, thighs, knees, arms, double chin. It is not a treatment for excess weight, but a true body-contouring surgery. The procedure is performed using fine cannulas introduced through tiny incisions concealed in the natural creases. The fat is removed harmoniously and evenly, respecting the natural contours of the body, for a smooth result without irregularities. The fat cells removed do not grow back: the result is long-lasting, provided a balanced lifestyle is maintained. Several areas can be treated during the same operation, and the harvested fat can be reused for lipofilling. At Clinique Pasteur Tunis, liposuction is performed with latest-generation cannulas by experienced plastic surgeons, as day surgery or with a short hospital stay depending on the extent, with attentive follow-up during convalescence.

When is it indicated?

Localised fat deposits resistant to diet and exercise

Some bulges persist despite a healthy lifestyle; liposuction removes them permanently to slim the figure.

Saddlebags, love handles, abdomen, thighs or knees

These areas store fat that is particularly hard to shift; their targeted removal harmoniously redraws the contours of the body.

Double chin

A double chin can weigh down the face even in a slim person; its removal redefines the jawline and profile.

Figure lacking harmony despite a stable weight

Even at a normal weight, certain disproportions can persist; liposuction rebalances the figure where needed.

Complementary contouring during other body surgery

Liposuction often complements another procedure, such as an abdominoplasty, for a smoother, more even overall result.

Procedure

1

General or regional anaesthesia depending on the extent

Pre-operative markings of the areas to be treated

3

Tiny incisions concealed in the natural creases

4

Preparatory infiltration of the tissues

Aftercare & Recovery

The figure slims progressively as the swelling subsides, with the final result appreciated after a few months. The compression garment, worn for a few weeks, promotes even skin retraction. The result is long-lasting with a balanced lifestyle.

Risks and side effects

Temporary bruising and swelling of the treated areas
Temporarily altered sensitivity
Minor surface irregularities, rare with today's fine cannulas

These risks remain rare. Your surgeon will inform you in detail before the procedure.
