Outpatient surgery

Outpatient surgery makes it possible to perform a surgical procedure with admission in the morning and a return home the same day. This model of care, now an international standard, applies to many procedures: hernias, hand surgery, arthroscopies, minor ENT surgery, gynaecological or urological procedures. Eligibility for outpatient care is decided jointly by the surgeon and the anaesthetist during the preliminary consultations. It takes into account the type of procedure, the patient's state of health and the conditions for their return home, in particular the presence of an accompanying person. On the day of the procedure, the patient is welcomed at the day hospital, prepared, operated on in the operating theatre under the same safety conditions as a conventional hospital stay, then monitored in the recovery room and in their room until the doctor approves their discharge.
